Out of the mouths of babes

Our time here is coming to an end so tonight the kids and I went out by ourselves.
This past month I have heard the kids make the strangest comments and observations while we were in the States.
I realized that Jaylee does not understand everyday American slang and the best part is that she doesn't pretend to know, she just flat out asks for clarification.
From the front seat of the car I tell them to "knock it off".
Jaylee: "Is knock it off a bad word?"
NO, it means stop it.
"So, I can say it at school?"
Yes.
"Good, I'm going to use it on my friends."
As for Aidan he is one of a kind.
What I am about to write is not an insult to anyone and Brandon is not here to stop me, so I'm going to talk about it.
This will certainly get some comments, you know I like them, but feel free to weigh in even if you feel like telling me off.
Tonight at the restaurant a little girl about the age of 6 walked by the table and Aidan says,
"He fat". (Yes it was a girl, but the child is completely confused by he/she)
To which I said,
"Aidan, we don't call people fat."
His simple reply,
"Why? He's fat."
Here's the problem, the child was not a little chunky, she was obese, and you just don't see that in France.
So of course, I try to explain that sometimes that happens and of course Jaylee has to chime in with,
"Well, only in the United States."
And to her credit, her observation is right. So I stopped.
And because Aidan is cheeky, he lifts his shirt and says, "I've got a big belly". When I asked him why he says,
"because I've got a lot of poop in there and I need to go potty real bad".
Cheers.

It is sad isn't it that he never sees fat children unless he is in the US.

Safe travels!
